Blue skies, blue sea and Blue Lagoons...

BARBADOS '22

"I was told by our directors before Christmas and then Lorna called to confirm that I’d be invited so it was very out of the blue and I was so excited! With us being new at Cornwallis, we were surprised we had been invited so soon but we were made to feel so welcome!"

I haven’t been before but it was on my to do list and I’m really happy it got ticked off! I’ve been to other places but Barbados is just incredible, it’s something you can’t really explain to people, you have to go and visit!

We were all sat on the beach laughing and getting to know each other – it’s the little things that mean a lot."

"The trip that Ged arranged and Lorna arranged with the boat trip was out of this world, to be honest.

It was nice to not just chat about work commitments and actually find out a bit more personal things about them and it was great to welcome those from Cornwallis to the team and to find out a bit more about the people themselves.

The real mix of people on the trips shows that anybody can get on it and it’s not just recruiters - from office support to people nominated by their directors.

They are once in a lifetime trips and I’ll be working very hard to get on one again!"

Upon arrival, guests were treated to a beach BBQ with a fire eating display, limbo dancing and live band. For the first full day, guests were invited to explore the island freely before heading to the QP Bistro for a meal.

On the second full day, guests set sail on a fun-packed boat trip on two sleek and exclusive luxury catamarans with multiple decks, fully air-conditioned saloons, and extensive deck space. During the excursion, the group sailed around the coast of the island and swam with turtles.

This was followed by drinks and snacks at Sea Shed, which served authentic, fresh Barbadian food.

Days three and four allowed the group some more free time, during which guests explored the delights the island had to offer, including the Flower Caves, the monkeys of Turner Hall Woods and Hunte’s Garden. The final day included dinner at the Lone Star Boutique Hotel & Restaurant

A group of over 30 members of the Morson family embarked on the trip of a lifetime to Barbados as a reward for their excellent efforts during 2021.

The #GoFurther incentive ran from May through to October 2021. For recruitment consultants, performance throughout the year was measured by a points system calculated by either percentage increase or total performance in 5 categories. Support staff across the Group were also nominated by their colleagues to earn a place on the trip.

"You have to have been there to truly understand just how incredible it was. From start to finish Ged and Lorna had thought of everything and we were well and truly spoilt.

Everyone on the trip was amazing - to experience Barbados with such a fun, kind, interesting group of people was a huge privilege. We visited some amazing restaurants and saw some beautiful sights, but the thing that will stay with me forever is the camaraderie of the group.

I thought it would take a lot to beat the whole group plus the rest of the diners in a local Piano Bar singing live to ‘Sweet Caroline’ but I think the highlight for me was the final day, when a few of us took a mini-bus around the island to visit the Flower Caves, Turner Hall Woods to see the monkeys and Hunte’s Garden. It was the perfect way to end the trip and experience a little piece of the island."

"It was planned really well right from the off at the airport, Lorna did an amazing job! Everything was really slick and there wasn’t much waiting around which was great. We had a couple of days where we had free time during the day and then ate evening meals at some superb restaurants. Some of the restaurants gave us a taste of some of the high life of Barbados. If you were to go with your family I don’t think you’d be eating in the same sort of restaurants or socialising in the same sort of VIP areas that we were, which was really special.

You hear about other areas in the company such as Vital, Morson Projects and Waldeck and it’s very rare that you get to interact with these people. There were definitely friendships forged on that and a greater understanding of what other people do in the business. That will probably make collaborations between the different business units a lot easier."
