Stronger Together: Highlights from the Morson Annual Conference 2021
HALF YEARLY 2021
Colleagues from across the Morson Group join together at the Lighthouse Church for our first annual conference since Liverpool in 2018

The theme of the conference was talent attraction, as well as highlighting our COVID Heroes and paying recognition to some long-serving members of the Group.
Over 250 Morson Group employees were in attendance for a packed morning event, which featured presentations from service line experts from across the business; CEO Ged Mason, Finance Director Paul Gilmour, COO Adrian Adair, Group Head of Marketing Rebekah Lee, Group Head of HR Katie Winstanley, Group Sales Director David Lynchehaun, and Client Services Managers James Millward and Juliet Rice.
The event was hosted by compere Terry Naden and featured a guest talk from BodyTalk CEO Richard Newman.
"It was important to host this event so we could come together as a business for the first time in a long time now that we have returned to our offices. A big thank you to Lorna and our marketing team for putting this all together and to our presenters." Ged Mason, CEO

"I am proud to see everyone pulling together which has been I think our finest moment and signifies what Morson is made of. The family spirit shone brightly, with people helping others before themselves. It was not about I and me - it was us and we.
Some COVID heroes to mention include all H&SE facilities who ensured we were compliant. We acted swiftly and went above and beyond, so well done to Gareth Morris, Joe Mason, Angela and the teams.
I also thank everyone that manned the offices that kept functioning and to our IT department who were the stars of the show. Barry, Ged, Chris, Dave and all of their team. Our HR team did a mammoth task with the furlough scheme, and thank you to our Marketing team who kept our communications going throughout.
We did some great things; our comms, Zoom and Teams meetings, flexible working, temperature reading, STEM gifts, children’s entertainment and quizzes. The team integration across the branches was also a highlight so well done to all our recruiters.
Our Morson Projects and Vital Rail Projects delivery teams also adapted incredibly well, so a huge well done!
And of course finally, a big thank you to everyone in the room and across the business - including our US and Canada branches, South Africa and across the rest of the world!"

The presentations were closed by Ged, who announced the retirements of two Morson Group legends - Managing Director Dr. Kevin Gorton and Commercial Director Mike Jones.
Kevin Gorton joined the business for his second spell in 1995 as Business Development Director and has been an integral part of the growth of the Group throughout that time.
Mike Jones joined the business in the early 1980's and has undertaken many roles across almost 40 years including a spell living away from home at Sizewell.
Both will be missed by colleagues across the Group. We wish both of them very happy retirements and thank them for their outstanding contributions to the Morson story.

CEO Ged Mason opened the proceedings with a thank you to everyone who pulled together during the last 18 months:

Group Head of HR Katie Winstanley's presentation centred on our work over the last 18 months with employee engagement and our upcoming leadership framework.
Group Sales Director David Lynchehaun's presentation centered around our recent wins, target clients, and how to harness the capabilities of the Group Products & Services to generate leads.
